Role description
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As a Podcast Media Manager at Anthropic, you will own how Claude shows up in podcasts, one of our most important channels for reaching professionals and knowledge workers. This is not a traditional media buying role. We're looking for someone to build a refreshed, proactive podcast strategy: securing the right shows before they're obvious, going beyond standard ad reads, and creating unique partnerships that fully integrate our product into shows in ways no other brand is doing.
In this role, you'll own our podcast program end to end, from annual strategy and show selection through network buys, scripts, pacing, and reporting across 100+ shows. You'll sit on the influencer marketing team and partner closely with growth marketing on performance goals and in-house campaigns, brand marketing on major campaign flights, enterprise marketing on B2B buys and scripts, creative and copy teams on reads and refreshes, comms teams on messaging and media buying teams/agencies on execution.
Key responsibilities
-
Own podcast strategy for Anthropic, setting where we show up instead of reacting to inbound pitches
-
Lead podcast strategy flights for major campaigns end to end, from planning through reporting
-
Manage network buys across major audio publishers including Spotify, Amazon, NYT, and others
-
Develop year-long buys with top shows and media outlets, identifying and pitching partners before they come to us
-
Build partnership packages that go beyond ad reads to include bonus episodes, video, live events, and social
-
Partner with creative and copy teams as their main point of contact on podcast work, establishing a repeatable process for scripts and copy points
-
Manage voice-actor reads and QA spots before they air
-
Develop a refresh cadence for reads so messaging stays current across 100+ shows, tailored to each show's audience
-
Manage agency relationships, pushing partners to deliver the best rates, placements, and ideas
-
Track pacing across buys and shift budget as performance data comes in
-
Present results and learnings back to the team on a regular basis
-
Partner with growth, brand, and enterprise marketing to align podcast plans with performance goals, campaign flights, and B2B objectives
Minimum qualifications
-
Have deep experience in podcast media buying at a tech or consumer company with a substantial podcast budget
-
Have managed podcast programs in-house directly, not only through an agency
-
Have run both agency partnerships and in-house podcast programs, and know how to get the best work out of each
-
Are skilled at managing and pushing media agencies to secure strong rates, placements, and ideas
-
Can spot up-and-coming shows before they're obvious and back your picks with a clear rationale
-
Bring creative ideas that go beyond the standard ad read, from bonus episodes to live events to product integrations
-
Are comfortable owning the details of execution, including scripts, QA, pacing, and reporting, alongside long-range strategy
-
Work well across many partner teams and can build repeatable processes that scale
-
Enjoy shaping a program from the ground up rather than maintaining an existing playbook
-
Are excited about Anthropic's mission to develop AI that is safe and beneficial
Preferred qualifications
-
Experience negotiating year-long or multi-format partnerships with top shows or networks
-
A background in copywriting or close collaboration with creative teams on host-read scripts
-
Familiarity with B2B audiences and enterprise-focused podcast buys
-
Experience with podcast measurement, attribution, and incrementality testing
-
Relationships with major audio publishers, networks, and independent hosts
-
Experience extending podcast partnerships into video, social, or live formats
-
Familiarity with AI products or the broader developer and knowledge worker audience

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
